Everything You Need to Know About Aspects

Beyond Signs + Houses

As you probably know by now, a Natal Chart recreates a map of the sky at the exact time, date, and location of your birth. In other words, it plots the positions of the planets in the solar system at the precise moment you were born. Each planet on your chart falls into a designated astrological sign and house.

For example, let’s say that on your chart, Mercury is in Leo and in the 10th house. Mercury rules thought and intellect, so, because it is in Leo, you express yourself passionately and think creatively! Additionally, because it is in the 10th house (which is ruled by Capricorn), this particularly shows up within your work and responsibilities.

However, just knowing this info doesn’t give you the full picture of your personality and why you are the way that you are. There could be other influences on Mercury at play. Psst - This is why your astrology app isn’t giving you the full picture! 📱

The planets on your Natal Chart also interact with and influence each other! These interactions are called aspects, which are simply units of distance between the planets. Some aspects are harmonious and invigorating, and others are like a serious side-eye. 👀

Let’s say that you and your friend both have Mercury in Leo and in the 10th house… but your Mercury has Jupiter influence and your friend’s Mercury has Pluto influence. Jupiter is the planet of good luck, joy, and abundance, which gives your thoughts and intellect (Mercury) an incredibly fun and joyful energy. However, Pluto brings about intensity, depth, and secrecy… which brings a very different energy to your friend’s thoughts and intellect.

THIS is why it’s so important to know all the nooks and crannies of your chart — not just the surface level, which your astrology app hardly even scratches. It’s thanks to generic horoscopes and vague apps that people say that astrology is inaccurate or nonsense.

(And keep in mind that this is coming from me — the one who tried to debunk astrology for those exact reasons 4 years ago!) We’re here to ACTUALLY get into the nooks and crannies of your chart, okay? 🤓

On that note, let’s explore the 5 different kinds of aspects that are possible on a Natal Chart...
